7 charges for Nigerian White House intruder

Dominic Adesanya, the 23-year-old Nigerian who was arrested on Wednesday night for jumping over the north lawn fence of the White House, has been charged with three felony and four misdemeanour counts.

Adesanya was charged with two counts of felony assault on a police officer for attacking the K-9 dogs, four counts of resisting and unlawful entry, and one count of making threats.

Brian Leary, a United States Secret Service spokesman, who disclosed this on Friday, said that the accused would face the court for proper detention hearing on Monday.

Leary added that Adesanya would be subjected to a psychiatric screening before the detention hearing.

The father of the accused had earlier claimed that his son was mentally disturbed, adding that the current incident was not his first arrest.

“He had done it before. He didn’t cross the fence. He was at the gate, fussing at the people, wanting to talk to the president to tell the president about his situation,” he said.

“He doesn’t understand, you know. His problem is not the president, you know; his problem is in his head. And he doesn’t want help and we think he needs to be forced to get the help.”
