More than 10 people lost their lives when two female suicide bombers on Monday morning detonated two bombs at the Monday Market in Maiduguri, Borno state.
The bombers, who were said to have hid the explosives in their Hijab dress, blew themselves up as a female civilian- JTF operative tried to search them when they arrived a salon within the market.
Gideon Jubrin, police spokesman in Borno, who earlier said it was too early to estimate a death toll, later pegged the causality figure above 10.
“Two female suicide bombers detonated an explosive in Monday market in two different locations killing more than 10, and injured many,” Jubrin said.

A resident of the city told TheCable that the blasts occurred at about 11:45am, in quick succession.
The explosions occurred at the area where fowls are being sold inside the market, very close to a First Bank branch.
Parents reportedly rushed to schools within the metropolis to pick up their wards.

Bala Dauda, a trader who was at the scene, said he saw victims drip with blood and people lose their limbs.
He further said that rescue operations were ongoing.
The attack comes six days after a similar one at the same market, which resulted in the death of more than 100 people.
Borno is the worst among the three states , including Adamawa and Yobe affected by the insurgency.

On Friday, the police anti bomb squad state defused a bomb planted by the side of the road in Gamboru market area of Maiduguri.
The bomb was allegedly targeted at worshippers at a mosque around the area.
That same Friday, a similar attack led to the loss of 120 lives at the Ado Bayero central mosque in Kano.
