Thugs suspected to be loyal to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo state have attacked the state’s legislative quarters and wreaked havoc, according to an email from Peter Okhiria, chief press secretary to Governor Adams Oshiomhole.
He said 36 cars and seven houses were vandalised as the thugs shot sporadically “for several hours without restraint”.
The latest trouble started on Friday when President Goodluck Jonathan went to lay the foundation laying for a $1 billion Azura Gas-powered power project in Benin City.
Thugs allegedly attacked some senior officials of the Edo state government, which is controlled by the All Progressives Congress (APC).
