Stephen Keshi, former coach of the Super Eagles, lost his wife, Kate, very late on Wednesday.
Complete Sports quoted the former skipper of the national team as confirming the development.
“She was ill for a while now and I’m still in shock of this great loss,” Keshi said.
“She is more like a sister to me and was the rock behind me and everything I do. My love for her was at first sight.”

According to a statement on NFF’s website, Amaju Pinnick, president of the federation, had a lengthy phone conversation with Keshi on Thursday.
“This is devastating. To lose a spouse is the equivalent of a tragedy. I pray that Almighty God will give you and the children the fortitude to bear this huge loss,” Pinnick told Keshi.
