The news of earth tremors in the federal capital territory has elicited reactions on social media.

While some residents of Abuja are panicking, others are calling on the relevant authorities to swing into action.

The assurance of the FCT Emergency Management Agency (FEMA)  that there is no likelihood of an earthquake has not assuaged the worry of many.

Here are some reactions from Twitter:

Regarding the Abuja tremors. a massive 7.8 earthquake was recorded in Fiji (and several other locations on the pacific rim of fire).
When an earthquake happens, echoes of the quake can cause tremors to occur in a location at the opposite end of the globe.

I have informed the FCT Minister and Perm Sec. on the scaring earth movement in some parts of Abuja at 6:11am. I felt earth tremors in my home in maitama too. Measures are been taken to address the problem.
I will keep the FCT administration on their toes on this.

My house in Abuja shook even more violently at 6:12 am this morning. This time, it was accompanied by a loud bang. Windows rattled and the dogs barked immediately. Again, a bit like a bomb.

Whether what happened in Abuja was a tremor or not the thing is if a bigger thing like an earthquake should happen how ready are we to be able to evacuate people and save a lot of lives it's not about praying to God like we always like doing in this country but by taking steps

The memo by FEMA on the tremors in Abuja seem to be too speculative and shallow. Meanwhile answers lie around in the open web. Answer put together by people who seem to know what they are doing even with matters that concern us.
