Ten persons have been killed in fresh attacks by gunmen on communities in two LGAs across Kaduna state.
Samuel Aruwan, Kaduna state commissioner for internal security and home affairs, confirmed the killings in a statement on Friday.
Aruwan explained that the killings occurred in Zango Kataf and Chikun LGAs.
He said Nasir el-Rufai, governor of Kaduna, condemned the attacks and condoled with the families of the deceased persons.

“Security agencies had previously reported killings of citizens in Kibori, Katsit and Afana in Zangon Kataf local government area, and Amana Kasuwa of Igabi LGA, before reporting the killing of nine persons today, Friday, 9th July, 2021 at Warkan village of Zangon Kataf LGA, and one person at Kakkau area of Chikun LGA,” the commissioner said.
“The governor condoled the families that lost their loved ones and wished the citizens who sustained injuries speedy recovery.
“He also directed the Kaduna state emergency management agency to urgently assess damages at Warkan village and provide relief materials to the affected citizens.”

Aruwan also noted that five youths were reported missing on Friday by security agencies from Kafanchan and Jama’a areas of the state.
The commissioner explained that the governor has been communicating with security agencies in hourly briefings on the attacks in the two communities, and urged the affected families to remain calm as investigations are ongoing.
