The maiden Caesar Okogeri Club Cricket Championship commenced in Enugu state on Saturday.

The maiden grassroots cricket competition is aimed at supporting the young talents and potential that abound in the sport in the state and south-east region of Nigeria.

The three-day event that has attracted about 100 kid cricketers is held at the St. Patrick Secondary School Emene, Enugu.

Ogbonnaya Okogeri, the chairman of the Enugu State Cricket Association (ESCA), said the programme was among the activities by the board to deepen cricket development in the country.

The organisers said the competitors represent the best cricket talents in Enugu state.
