The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) says eleven passengers have lost their lives while eight others sustained injuries in an auto accident along Ore-Benin expressway in Edo.
Confirming the development in a statement on Thursday, Bisi Kazeem, corps public education officer, said the accident occurred at about 9 am on Monday.
Kazeem said the crash involved 19 passengers around Ovia bridge, inward Benin.
Among the 19 passengers were 10 adult males, eight women and one female child.

He said eleven persons comprising three adult females, seven men and one child were killed, adding that eight others sustained injuries.
“A total of three vehicles were involved comprising a Dangote trailer at the rear, one Kia saloon car with registration number LSD553HY which was brushed aside, and a Toyota Hiace bus with registration number KET779AV in front,” he said.
Speaking on the accident, Dauda Biu, FRSC corps marshal, asked drivers to avoid careless driving and to pay attention to mechanical faults in their vehicles.

Biu said the accident occurred as a result of brake failure in one of the vehicles, which led to loss of control.
He said the injured passengers have been taken to Saving Grace Hospital, Ovbiogie in Benin for treatment, while those who lost their lives were deposited at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital mortuary.
The corps marshal ordered that a technical investigation be carried out to ascertain the primary and remote causes of the accident.
