’11 terrorists’ killed as troops raid hideouts in Borno

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai reportedly killed 11 Boko Haram terrorists during a raid on their hideouts in Bama LGA of Borno state.

Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency publication focused on the Lake Chad region, said the operation was conducted in collaboration with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) operatives.

During the operation, the troops captured four terrorists and destroyed six hideouts in the Sambisa forest.

The troops carried out the raids between August 4 and 5, 2023.

The hideouts destroyed include Bula Shetan, Lawanti, Garin Ari Shira, Kashimri and Gaizuwa.

A source who spoke with Zagazola Makama said the troops encountered the terrorists in Garin Ari Shira village and engaged them in a gun battle.

The source said five of the terrorists were killed in the process, while the troops set the village ablaze.

In another development, the insurgents invaded Alafa but fled the village after hearing gunshots fired by the troops.

The source said one insurgent was killed when the troops ambushed the fleeing terrorists in Lawanti.

The troops recovered local bombs, bicycles and other items from the terrorists.

On August 5, the troops stormed another terrorist hideout in Kashimri and killed five of them.

While haunting down the fleeing terrorists in Gaizuwa, the troops captured four of the insurgents, while others escaped.
