14-year-old reports father to police over ‘defilement’

The Lagos police command says its officers have arrested one Kayode Adeyanju, a 45-year-old man, for allegedly defiling his 14-year-old daughter.

The police noted that Adeyanju was arrested by officers attached to Ipakodo division, Ikorodu, after the victim reported the case to the police.

In a statement on Monday, Muyiwa Adejobi, Lagos police spokesperson, said the commissioner of police has ordered that the case should be transferred to the gender unit of the command for further investigation.

“The survivor personally reported the case at Ipakodo police station, Ikorodu on 7th June, 2021, after her horrible ordeal in the hands of her father, and the police operatives arrested the suspect,” the statement reads.

In another development, the police said its officers arrested seven suspected cultists in a hostel at Morogbo axis, while they were holding a meeting.

One locally-made pistol, two live cartridges, one axe and “assorted charms” were said to have been recovered from them.

“Similarly, the police operatives attached to Morogbo division of Lagos state on Sunday, 13th June, 2021, at about 10am, on a tip-off from the management of House 2 hotel, Igbekele Morogbo, Lagos State, that some boys suspected to be cultists were holding a meeting in the hotel, arrested 7 (seven) suspected cultists,” the police said.

“The suspects include Hameed Salami, m, 35; Ogunlade Adewale, m, 30; Sunday Ogbemudia, m, 36; Okekunle Segun, m, 26; Imole Kingsley, m, 23; Rasak Lekan, m, 26, and Osuya Innocent, m, 23.

“Items recovered from them include one locally made pistol, two live cartridges, one axe, assorted charms.”
