151 aspirants pick PDP nomination forms in Plateau

A total of 151 aspirants have picked nomination forms to contest in the 2015 general election under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Plateau state, Michael Dachom, the party’s state organising secretary, has said.

Dachom told NAN in Jos on Monday that 11 of the aspirants, including Ignatius Longjan, the current deputy governor, picked forms for governorship, while 40 others were for national assembly and 100 for state assembly seats.

He said Gyang Pwajok and Victor Lar, both of whom are senators; as well as Fidelis Tapgun, a former governor; Haruna Dabin, former PDP chairman in Plateau state and John Clark, former speaker of the state house of assembly, have also picked governorship nomination forms.

Other aspirants for governorship seat include Sonni Tyoden, a professor and former vice chancellor, University of Jos; as well as Jimmy Cheto, Labar Wuyep, Godfrey Miri and Jeff Nabasu.

The organising secretary further said 10 persons had picked nomination forms for the senate, including Jonah Jang, governor of the state; Pauline Tallen, former deputy governor and Emmanuel Goar, a member of the house of representatives.

Joshua Dariye, a serving senator; Sati Gogwim, his predecessor and Abbas Dayilim, a former general manager of Zenith Bank are other aspirants in the senatorial race.

Observing that more aspirants may still emerge with the sale of nomination forms extended to Thursday, November 6, 2014, Dachom added that 30 aspirants had picked forms for the eight seats reserved for the state in the house of representatives while 100 aspirants picked forms for the 24-member state house of assembly.

The organising secretary promised a level playing ground for all aspirants, and called for more commitment to ensure victory for the party in the 2015 general election.
