Eighteen people were reported injured while watching Andres Iniesta’s television interview in Barcelona on Tuesday.
The 34-year old Albacete-born midfielder who announced his summer exit from Barcelona recently was being interviewed by a local television producer when the temporary seating gave way, injuring 18 in the process.
According to Barcelona city hall, 11 persons, including two minors, were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of varying bruises, while others were treated on site.
In another interview with top Spanish radio, Onda Cero, Iniesta revealed that this summer’s World Cup tournament holding in Russia would be his last involvement with the national team. “If nothing strange happens, this World Cup will be my last participation with the Spanish national team,” he announced.

Iniesta scored the winning goal for Spain at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, where La Furia Roja defeated The Netherlands 1-0 in the final to lift the FIFA World Cup trophy, their first ever triumph in the FIFA Mundial.
