18 people arrested in Kaduna clash that ‘left many injured’

Eighteen people have been have arrested in connection with a clash in Kaduna state.

On Monday, many people were reportedly injured when youths of Kabala west and Anguwan Mu’azu clashed.

Samuel Aruwan, spokesman of Nasir el-Rufai, governor of the state, said security agencies arrested suspects involved in the unrest, and they would be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.

He said ‎security patrols in the areas was being intensified to avoid a reoccurrence of the incident.

Aruwan said the “false news being circulated on the social media that the crisis had escalated to other parts of Kaduna town leading to the killing of a few person and others injured”, should be Ignored.

The spokesman said the false news was the handiwork of mischief makers and people who do not mean well for the state.

He said Abdullahi Sani, acting secretary to the state government, had gone to the affected communities to ensure peace.

Aruwan said Sani met with the leaderships of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI), amongst who promised to look for those involved in the clash.
