193 out of the inmates who escaped from the Ado-Ekiti prison during a jail break on Sunday have been rearrested, according to the prison authorities.
Armed men reportedly attacked the facility with explosives, killing guard dogs and freeing all the inmates.
Ope Fatinikun, the spokesman of the Nigerian Prison Service (NPS), said there was a manhunt for the remaining inmates, appealing to residents of neighbouring communities to be on the lookout for strange individuals.
Fatinikun charged the people of Ondo, Edo, Osun, Kogi and Kwara states to be on the alert because there was a possibility of the inmates taking refuge in any of those states based on their proximity to Ekiti.

The latest jail break happened about a month after 144 out of 145 inmates in Koton-Karfe prison in Kogi escaped. However, the authorities said nine of them were later recaptured.
