About 200 houses were burnt in a fire incident that broke out very early on Wednesday morning in Soro Village, Ganjuwa local government area of Bauchi state.
A resident who spoke to TheCable said that the cause of the inferno could not be ascertained, but he was “sure that it was not a Boko Haram attack”.
“No, it’s not Boko Haram,” he said.
“The fire just started without anything. It just caught so many houses, over 200 houses got burnt.”

He added that the fire incident, which resulted in no death, simply started from one house and escalated to other places.
“There was no trace of the fire. I don’t know how it started because people were saying this thing happened just like that. From one house, it just escalated to other places,” he said, adding that security forces and the fire service had visited the scene of the incident to “bring the situation under control”.
