Kano Pillars have a talented group of players but can coach Ibrahim Musa make them gel like a cohesive unit?
The days of three successive titles are long gone but that has never stopped Pillars’ fans from dreaming their team can again challenge for the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) trophy.
Musa is well respected by the management and fans of the club. He is viewed as the man to return the team to its rightful place in the upper echelon of the league.
He recently guided the club to successes in the Gold Cup and Ahlan Cup pre-season tournaments.

At his disposal is a resilient, talented squad but what he will make of them remains to be seen. With their quality, it is not inconceivable that Pillars could find themselves competing for a continental berth.
To boost Pillars’ away form and attacking play, exciting forward, Nzube Anaezemba, has been recruited from Rivers United and even more importantly for the team, Nyima Nwangua didn’t jump ship despite interests from rival teams.
Musa has also bolstered his defence with the acquisition of highly-rated right back Ifeanyi Nweke, who will partner Stephen Eze at the back.

Rabiu Ali, the conductor
The enigmatic playmaker is the heart and soul of Pillars. The team’s play is built around him and the number 10 always manages to deliver the goods.
Yahaya’s time?
Nazifi Yahaya is an exciting prospect who has come through the youth system and is already being compared to Victor Moses. If he can secure sufficient playing time, he may get to showcase his blossoming talent.
Gambo Mohammed, the difference maker
Gambo has a great ability on the ball, he is a vital component of the side and has now made peace with fans who jeered him after wanting away.
The big question…
Will Pillars, with the arsenal in their war chest, be able to improve on the 8th place finish of 2017?
