Elders in the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 10 local government councils in Oke Ogun, have “endorsed” Adeolu Akande as the candidate for the Oyo governorship election in 2023.
The APC elders were said to have made the resolution during a stakeholders’ meeting held in Kajola LGA, in Oyo state.
The elders asked members of the party to prepare for the forthcoming congress of the APC, adding that a date would be announced by the national headquarters soon.
The elders reportedly said they would welcome aspirants from other zones, but maintained that the next Oyo governor must be from Oke Ogun.

“We cannot do it alone and we need the support of all parts of the state to actualise the project,” they were quoted to have said.
Party elders said to be at the meeting included, Goke Oyetunji, former senatorial chairman of the APC in Oyo north; Ahmed Ayinla, Tijani Balogun, James Adeleke, James Oke, Aderoju Egbedokun, and Zarayiyau Mustapha.
Others were John Olalerun, Waheed Adesina Akinlotan, Mathew Oyedokun, Azeez Bonuola, former commissioner for special duties, and Dejo Adebisi, former special assistant to governor Abiola Ajimobi.

Also at the meeting were former chairmen of local government councils including Iseyin, Kajola, Iwajowa, Itesiwaju, Olorunsogo, Orelope, Irepo and Iwajowa.
