Twenty-two students on excursion lost their lives in a road accident in Kano state on Tuesday.
Ibrahim Gaya, a witness, said the accident happened between Maitama Sule College and Dudduru village in Gaya town.
He said the bus conveying the students was involved in a collision with a truck while trying to avoid a pothole.
“The bus, coming from the other side towards Kano, was on high speed. Perhaps the bus driver lost control and collided with the truck and we counted 22 persons dead,” he said.

The students were on their way to Kano from Misau local government area of Bauchi state.
They were heading to a radio station.
Magaji Majia, spokesman of the police in the state, confirmed the unfortunate incident.

“The police are already attending to the situation and let me officially inform you that only 22 passengers died in the crash,” he said.
