23 human skulls ‘found in shrines’ of Niger Delta militants

Kevin Aligbe, acting commander of Operation Delta Safe in Cross River state, has revealed that 23 human skulls were discovered in four shrines belonging to Bakassi Strike Force, one of the militant groups in the Niger Delta.

Aligbe said apart from the skulls, which were in various stages of decomposition, one complete human skeleton, and several other human body parts were also seen.

He said acting on a tip off, troops stormed the shrines situated at Ikot Ene Idem, Abakpa and Ikang Inam in Bakassi and Akpabuyo local government areas of the state.Skulls“The shrines were destroyed and troops have continued the search for the perpetrators of these heinous acts,” Aligbe said in a statement.

“With the clearance of these shrines, the Bakassi Strike Force have effectively been smoked out from the area they used to hold sway. It should be noted that the senseless killing of humans for ritual purposes is sacrilegious and will not be tolerated in any form.”
