At least, 25 persons have been killed in an accident that occurred in Kwara state.
Fifteen other persons sustained injuries in the incident which occurred on Tuesday at Peke, Okoolowo area, along Jebba-Bode-Saadu road in Moro LGA of Kwara.
The accident involved a petrol tanker, a heavy-duty truck and one 18-seater bus.
The petrol tanker reportedly had an head-on collision with the heavy-duty truck, and consequently, burst into flames.

The fire affected the 18-seater bus.
Hassan Adekunle, spokesperson of the Kwara fire service, confirmed the incident.
“The incident involved a petrol tanker with registration number JJN 17 XW, a heavy-duty truck, and an eighteen-seater bus,” Adekunle said.

“The firemen diligently worked to quench the inferno, but unfortunately, 25 lives were lost, and around 15 people were rescued with injuries
“Investigations revealed that the petrol tanker, travelling from Niger state, was using the wrong side of the road, resulting in a head-on collision with a heavy-duty truck from Lagos state.
“The collision ignited a fire that rapidly consumed both vehicles, also affecting the 18-seater bus from Lagos.”
Last Friday, eight persons, including four children, died in an auto crash at Oke-Onigbin on the Omu-Aran-Ilorin highway in Irepodun LGA of the state.

An articulated vehicle and a bus were involved in the accident.
Stephen Dawulung, sector commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps in Kwara, said the accident was caused by over-speeding, wrongful overtaking and poor visibility.
Six other persons sustained injuries in the accident.
