The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) says 270 Nigerians have been evacuated from Egypt.
In a tweet on Friday, the commission said the evacuees departed Cairo, the country’s capital, via Egypt Air.
The Nigerians were scheduled to arrive alongside two other nationals at the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport, Abuja, by 6pm but arrived at 2:30pm on Friday.
NiDCOM added that all the evacuees tested negative for COVID-19.

“270 Stranded Nigerians departed Cairo Egypt via @eayptair for Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja with two other Nationals. The flight is expected to arrive around 6:00pm local time today. All evacuees tested negative for COVID-19,” the tweet read.

On Thursday, NiDCOM announced the arrival of 15 Nigerians evacuated from France, Germany and Netherlands into the country.

The evacuees arrived at the Muritala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos state.
According to the commission, the evacuation exercise was coordinated by the Nigerian Mission in France, Germany and Netherlands and monitored by NiDCOM.

It added that all evacuees are already on self-isolation which will last for 14 days as mandated by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), the federal ministry of health, and the presidential task force (PTF) on COVID-19.

Meanwhile, NiDCOM has announced its fourth evacuation from the US scheduled for July 28.
