29 ‘internet fraudsters’ arrested in Ogun

Officers of the Nigerian army have arrested 29 suspected internet fraudsters in the Odogbolu area of Ogun state.

Wilson Uwujaren, EFCC spokesman, said the suspects were arrested on Monday during a raid on their hideout.

Uwujaren said the suspects have been handed over to the Ibadan zonal command of the anti-graft agency.

He said the officers found hard drugs in the suspects’ possession, while incriminating evidence was also found on them.

The statement reads: “The suspects were arrested during a raid conducted by the Nigerian Army at Ijagun, Odogbolu area of Ogun state.

“The suspects are Azeez Busayo, Olubor Winner, Amusa Abdulhakeem, Osoko David, Diyaolu Damilola, Olunlade Olamilekan, Amaje Armstrong, Akorede Tope and Owonifari Sanwiyu. Others are Ganiyu Sodiq, Onasanya Adeniyi, Ajayi Adesola, Asenuga Ayotomiwa, Bamgboye Quadri, Ayede Oluwaseun, Oseni Ismail, Olaniyan Emmanuel, Akanni Olaleye and Onasile Sunday.

“Items recovered from the suspects include eleven vehicles, twenty nine phones and suspected hard drugs. The vehicles recovered by from them are still in the custody of the Nigerian Army.”

The EFCC spokesman said 19 of the suspects have been indicted through ongoing investigation while adding that they will be charged to court as soon as the investigation is concluded.
