Oyo state says the second phase of its free healthcare initiative will target 400,000 residents.
Tagged ‘Omituntun free health mission’, the scheme is designed to provide free services for several categories of health issues.
Wasiu Olatubosun, commissioner for information, culture and tourism, quoted Wale Falana, coordinator of the project, as saying: “The next Omituntun free health mission project will hold between the months of May and June this year, as we await the approval of the state governor, Seyi Makinde, for the next quarter.
“We project to cover more than 400,000 beneficiaries in all the areas of health challenges that people may have, especially among those who cannot afford the cost of medical care.

“The one we did last was so successful that we covered over 200,000 beneficiaries within the period of operation and those who benefited might even come again to test and build more on their medical wellbeing when we start the next one.”
“We appreciate the state ophthalmologists and personnel of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) Teaching Hospital for their support so far. We also call on the people to take advantage of the health mission project to know their state of health and get better and free treatment from the programme.”
The coordinator said medical practitioners from the state health agencies and non-governmental organisations will partake in the project. He added that the team toured every part of the state during the first phase.
