He said the recoveries were recorded on Saturday, bringing the total number of patients who have recovered from the disease in the state to 902.

The country has so far recorded 11,844 cases but only 7,715 are active.

On Thursday, Chikwe Ihekweazu, director-general of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), said COVID-19 patients who show no symptoms can be discharged 14 days after testing positive for the disease.

Speaking at the presidential task force (PTF) on COVID-19 media briefing, he said the decision was taken in line with the new guidelines the agency issued for the management of COVID-19 patients.

He said asymptomatic patients do not necessarily need to wait for a test confirming them negative before they are discharged from isolation centres.
