Olaoluwa Olorunfemi, a 50-year-old farmer, has been killed in Ondo state.
In a statement on Monday, Olufunmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, spokesperson of the state police command, confirmed the incident.
Odunlami-Omisanya said the deceased was macheted to death by four yet-to-be-identified men at Ifeloduro camp forest reserve in the state.
According to the police spokesperson, the incident happened at about 5:20 pm on Saturday.

She said the assailants also collected all the phones belonging to other farmers in the camp before killing Olorunfemi.
“Some men numbering four came to the camp and collected their phones and also macheted one Olaoluwa Olorunfemi, aged 50yrs, all over his body and he gave up the ghost on the spot,” Odunlami-Omisanya said.
“The police in company of the deceased family visited the scene of the crime and his corpse was evacuated and deposited in the morgue.”

In another development, two persons were shot dead during a violent fracas between two warring parties in parts of Ikare-Akoko, headquarters of Akoko north-east LGA of the state.
According to residents, gunshots were fired into the air, forcing many shop owners and market women to close their shops while commercial activities were grounded.
The residents, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, lamented that security agents were not enough to douse the tension in the community.
They urged the state government to declare a curfew in the town and find a lasting solution to the incessant conflict.

In January, several buildings were razed in Okoja area of Ikare-Akoko following an outbreak of violence in the community.
The incident occured when some persons disrupted a New Year carnival organised by youths in the community.
