‘6 killed’ as gunmen attack expatriates in Gombe

Gombe state Gombe state

Gunmen killed three policemen and three civilians during an attack on some foreign workers in the Guba Shango axis of Gombe state on Saturday.

A security source confirmed the attack to TheCable, saying it happened around 9pm.

The source said the attackers trailed the workers from a construction site to their quarters, adding that those killed lost their lives while trying to repel the attack.

“Someone must have given them information, because they trailed the workers from a site where they were excavating coal to their quarters, opposite Ganja School, here in the state capital,” the source said.

“Three policeman and three local guards were killed during a gun battle. They were not kidnappers because even after overpowering the security personnel, they did not abduct the workers.

“One cannot really say if they were armed robbers or Boko Haram members.”

Fwaje Atajiri, police spokesman in the state, refused to comment on the incident.
