7,123 cases, 289 deaths as coronavirus spreads to 50 African countries

Africa has recorded a total of 7, 123 coronavirus cases and 289 deaths across 50 countries.

This is according to the data obtained from the Africa Center for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC).

The Africa CDC also said about 592 people have recovered from COVID-19 across the continent.

Figures from the centre also show that  653 new cases have been reported.

South Africa has the highest number of confirmed cases on the continent with 1, 462 cases and five deaths.

Algeria follows closely with 986 cases and 83 deaths while Egypt, the third-highest, has 865 cases and 58 deaths.
