EPL: Hojlund, Garnacho end goal droughts in United’s win over Leicester

Man United defeated Leiceister City 3-0 in their EPL clash

Rasmus Hojlund and Alejandro Garnancho scored a goal apiece as a Bruno Fernandes-inspired Manchester United defeated Leicester City 3-0 in their English Premier League (EPL) encounter at the King Power stadium on Sunday.

Both Hojlund and Garnacho found the perfect opponent to end their barren spell in front of goal and a poor Leicester City defence obliged them as Ruud van Nistelrooy’s struggling side fell to a sixth consecutive league defeat against an equally struggling Red Devils side.

Man United took the lead in the 28th minute when Leicester City’s defense allowed Hojlund to collect and advance with a Bruno Fernandes pass before hitting the far corner with an emphatic finish.

The goal is Hojlund’s first in 14 EPL matches, netting for the first time since his goal against Nottingham Forest in early December. It also ended a run of 21 matches without a goal in all competitions.

In a match without much action, Garnacho, previously denied by VAR, ended his own drought in front of goal on 67 minutes when he converted a snapshot at the near post following a pass from Fernandes for 2-0.

It was Garnacho’s first goal in 17 EPL matches, and ended a barren run of 21 matches without a goal in all competitions.

Fernandes, team captain, then capped a brilliant individual performance with a fine strike from the edge of the box into the bottom corner on 90 minutes to add more gloss to the scoreline and complete the 3-0 scoreline.
