The Labour Party (LP) has fixed April 5 for its primary election ahead of the Anambra state governorship poll.

A statement issued Wednesday by Obiora Ifoh, LP’s national publicity secretary, said the decision was reached by the party’s national working committee (NWC).

According to Ifoh, the sale of expression of interest and nomination forms will begin on February 10, while the sale of delegates’ forms is set for March 20.

However, the party is expected to officially announce the cost of the nomination forms in the coming weeks.

The party spokesperson enjoined interested aspirants to visit LP’s national headquarters for guidelines and other necessary information.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has since scheduled the governorship election in Anambra November 8, 2025.

In October 2024, Mahmood Yakubu, INEC chairman, reminded political parties that the electoral law requires election notices to be published at least 360 days before polling day.

He advised parties to adhere to INEC’s timetable, which allocates the window for party primaries from March 20 to April 10, 2025.

Anambra, Edo, Osun, Bayelsa, Ekiti, Kogi, and Imo hold off-cycle governorship polls separate from the general election cycle.
