Teliat Yunus, chief Imam of Ogbomoso land, has hailed the appointment of Afolabi Ghandi Olaoye as the Soun-elect of the town.
On Saturday, Seyi Makinde, governor of Oyo state, approved the appointment of Olaoye, a pastor at the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), as the Soun-elect.
The Soun stool became vacant after the demise of Oba Jimoh Oyewumi Ajagungbade III, in December 2021, at the age of 95.
In a statement on Sunday, the chief Imam said the ascension of Olaoye to the Soun stool is a new beginning for the town.

He added that Olaoye’s appointment will chart the progress of the town.
“For nearly five decades, we enjoyed an esteemed and distinguished leadership of the land and for about 20 months now, we have been in dire bereavement as our exalted stool has been vacant,” the statement reads.
“It is indeed a new dawn in Ogbomosoland, a new beginning and a new path to chart the progress of our glorious land.
