Nigeria’s U-23 football team, the Dream Team, defeated Ghana’s U-23 team 2-0 in their first game of the football event of the 2015 All-Africa Games (AAG) in Congo on Wednesday.
Junior Ajayi opened scoring for the Samson Siasia-led side in the 55th minute and Kingsley Sokari made it two three minutes to the end of the match.
Nigeria dominated the early exchanges, but their first real chance to take the lead came in the 32nd from a free kick.
Daniel Etor found Oghenekaro Etebo in the area but the striker failed to beat the keeper with a header.

Exchange of passes from Sokari and Junior Ajayi prised open the Ghanaian defence but the latter wasted his effort to put Nigeria ahead.
Ajayi made amends on resumption of the game as he finished off a pass from Etor in the 55th minute.
Aminu Umar was denied a chance of increasing the tally as the opponent’s defence were alert to his threat and cleared the ball to safety.

They finally conceded the second from a fine effort from Sokari in the 87th minute.
Nigeria’s final Group B match against Senegal, who drew 0-0 with Ghana on the opening day will determine the overall winners of the group following the last-minute withdrawal of Egypt.
