Residents of Abakaliki have commended security agents for providing adequate security all over the state capital during the Easter celebration.
The residents lauded the government for the deployment men of the Police and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) at strategic places during the celebration.

Mr. Felix Okpara, a civil servant, said there was 24-hour police patrol within the capital city during the festivities.
“The directive by the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr. Mohammed Abubakar, really paid off in the state,” Okpara said.
“There was 24-hour Police patrol throughout the Easter celebration, security surveillance was mounted at strategic locations by a combined team of police and the Civil Defence.”

A teacher, Mrs Carol Onwe, said the Easter celebration was very peaceful without any reported case of security breaches.
“Some of us who did not travel to join our kit and kin, had a wonderful and peaceful celebration with visible police presence to offer protection as well as ward off criminals,” she said.
“People moved about freely without any molestation or attack by hoodlums while the police and the Civil Defence patrolled major roads and streets in the city.”
A business man, Mr Linus Nkwuda, said the capital city witnessed calm and tranquility with residents going about their normal businesses unmolested.

“I live at No. 4 Liberty Street, off Water Works Road, Abakaliki; there was heavy presence of security agents as well as regular police patrol throughout the festive period,” he added.
“I did not hear of any case of armed robbery attack either on our street or the neighbouring streets, everywhere was calm.”
Following series of violent insurgent attacks across the country, Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar, directed 24-hour nationwide police surveillance during the Easter celebration.
