Akin Abayomi, Lagos state commissioner for health, says the percentage of admitted patients at both public and private COVID-19 care centres in the state has reduced significantly.
The commissioner revealed this in a thread of tweets on his Twitter account on Thursday while providing an update on the state’s COVID-19 situation for March 15.
Abayomi said the number of patients at COVID-19 care centres across the state began reducing from February.
He said 520 out of the total available 554 bed space are currently unoccupied.

The commissioner also said five out of the state’s 11 COVID-19 care centres are free.
He said the state recorded 47 new COVID-19 cases on March 15 — which takes the total number of cases to 57,073.
According to him, the number of confirmed cases has risen to 379,723 since the infection was first recorded in the state in February 2020.

He said 20 patients are currently in isolation while 2,866 active cases are under home-based care.
He estimated the average length of stay of patients on treatment to be 12 days.
