Abba Yusuf, governor of Kano, has dissolved the caretaker committees of all 44 LGAs in the state.

The development arrives on the heels of the Kano house of assembly approving a two-month tenure extension for the caretaker chairpersons.

The extension, which would have run from September 9 to November 9, 2024, is now nullified following the dissolution.

In a statement issued by Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, spokesperson for the Kano governor, Yusuf directed the chairpersons to hand over affairs of their respective areas to directors personnel management (DPMs).

The Kano state LGA election has been slated for October 26.

“Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf appreciated the outgoing Interim Management Committee members for their commitment in steering affairs of the local governments for half a year,” the statement reads.
