Abba Yusuf, governor of Kano, says suspected hoodlums took away documents of alleged corruption cases against Abdullahi Ganduje, national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), during the #EndBadGovernance protest.
Public buildings, including a court in Kano, were broken into during the protest, which was characterised by looting and destruction in some parts of the country.
Ganduje, a former governor of Kano, has graft allegations levelled against him, members of his family, and associates.
While assessing the damage done to the court on Wednesday, Yusuf described those who took away the court documents as “enemies” of Kano.

“It is very unfortunate that enemies of Kano state hired undesirable elements to vandalize one of the historic public buildings with a mission of averting corruption charges against the national chairman of APC and former governor of the state, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, his family, and his aides,” Sunusi Tofa, spokesperson to the governor, quoted him as saying.
Yusuf put the loss from the destruction at N1 billion, adding that the office of the chief judge was ransacked by the hoodlums.
The governor said his administration would continue to protect the lives and properties of residents in Kano.

He added that the youths should not allow themselves to be used by “detractors” for violence.
