Abducted Anambra native doctor regains freedom

Chukwudozie Nwangwu, a native doctor in Anambra, has been released by his abductors.

TheCable had reported that the popular native doctor identified as “Akwa Okuko Tiwaraki” was abducted in Oba, Idemili north LGA of the state.

The native doctor was said to have been kidnapped from his hotel room on Sunday night, while two of his personal aides were wounded.

Akwa Okuko Tiwaraki is said to be one of the most powerful and richest witch doctors in the state.

At the time, Tochukwu Ikenga, the state police spokesperson, had said the abductors contacted friends and relatives and demanded about N300 million.

Speaking with NAN, Ikenga said Nwangwu was released in the early hours of Saturday.

“I have information that he has been released by his abductors and we are making efforts to get information behind what happened”, he said.

The spokesperson added that he has information that the victim’s family did not pay the ransom.

Over the years, there have been numerous cases of abductions in different part of the country. Many times, the abductors would demand a ransom — usually millions — from the abductee’s family.
