Abducted Kaduna journalists, families regain freedom — after seven days in captivity

The two journalists and their families abducted in Kaduna have regained freedom from their abductors.

On July 6, Abdulgafar Alabelewe and Abdulraheem Aodu, journalists with The Nation and Blueprint newspapers, respectively, were abducted alongside their wives and children by some gunmen at about 10pm at Danhonu community, in the Millennium City area of Kaduna.

Asma’u Yawo Halilu, chairman of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) Kaduna council, confirmed the development in a statement on Saturday and thanked all those who facilitated the release of the journalists and their families.

‘’The council extends her profound gratitude to the offices of the CP, Kaduna state command,  the NSA, the DG, DSS, the inspector general of police, Kaduna State Government, the NUJ President, and all well meaning Nigerians that prayed along with us during this trying time,” the statement reads.
