Zainab Danja, the mother of Isiyaku Ali Danja, minority leader of the Kano house of assembly, has regained freedom from her abductors.
TheCable had earlier reported how Zainab was abducted by suspected gunmen at Gezawa LGA on January 12, 2022.
Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, spokesman of the police command in Kano, had confirmed the incident and said a rescue operation was underway.
“Efforts are being intensified with a view to rescuing the victim and arresting the hoodlums,” he had said.

Speaking with journalists on Tuesday, Danja confirmed that his mother was released after paying N40 million ransom to the abductors.
The lawmaker said he was on his way to pick his mother from where she was dropped off by her abductors.
Danja said the suspected kidnappers dropped his mother at a local government in Jigawa state.

The Kano and Jigawa state police could not be reached for comment at the time of filing this report.
