One out of the five abducted students of Federal University Dutsinma (FUDMA) in Katsina state has regained freedom.

According to reports, the female student was released by the abductors and taken to Kuncin Kalgo in Tsafe LGA of Zamfara, from where she was brought to Katsina.

She is said to be receiving medical attention.

Aliyu Abubakar-Sadiq, the police spokesperson in Katsina, who confirmed the release of the student to TheCable on Tuesday, said he was not aware if any ransom was paid for freedom.

“The student regained her freedom yesterday. She is currently receiving treatment at the hospital and afterwards, be debriefed by the police to get more information,” he said.

The victims were abducted on October 4 after some gunmen invaded their residence behind Mariamoh Ajiri Memorial School.

The police spokesperson had said one person was arrested for allegedly disclosing information to the gunmen.
