The Abdul Samad Rabiu Africa Initiative (ASR Africa) says it will provide a N10 billion grant towards healthcare interventions in four states — Ogun, Sokoto, Kwara and Edo.
Ubon Udoh, managing director of ASR Africa, said the new grant will be dedicated towards healthcare interventions from maternal & child health to health infrastructure, capacity development, amongst others.
“Since the inception of the Abdul Samad Rabiu Africa Initiative and its $100 million Africa fund for social development, we have identified key development needs in healthcare, education and social development within Nigeria and the African continent at large, and commenced implementation of some of these projects,” he said.
“In addition to this and based on our sub-national healthcare needs assessment, ASR Africa has now decided to commit N2.5 billion each to four states within Nigeria – Ogun, Kwara, Sokoto and Edo States.”

Udoh said the organisation will develop mutual accountability frameworks with the state implementation teams after which 50 percent of the grant will be disbursed immediately to commence implementation of the projects.
He added that the remaining fifty percent would be released “in line with agreed delivery milestones”.
ASR Africa was established in March 2021 with an annual fund of $100 million dedicated to solving development issues in the areas of health, education and social development on the African continent — $50 million is allocated to Nigeria and the rest to other countries.
