Governor of Kwara state, Dr. Abdulfatah Ahmed, says reports that he has been lobbying the presidency to return to the Peoples Democratic Party ( for the party’s gubernatorial ticket are untrue and only the mischievous machinations of people devoid of dignity but only out to “rehabilitate their dwindling political relevance”.
In a statement on Friday, Abdulfatah’s chief press secretary, Abdulwahab Oba, said that contrary to the report that the governor was at the presidential villa on August 6, 2014, where he sought audience with President Goodluck Jonathan for a possible return to the PDP, he was in Ilorin attending to serious state matters.
“The intent of those peddling the rumour is to cause disaffection within the All Progressives Congress family in Kwara state as they feel threatened by the increasing popularity of the party in the State,” he said.
“As they failed in their previous machinations, they shall not succeed in this latest bid to foist discord on the APC family. The APC in the state is a family bonded by solidarity and passion for service delivery rather than filthy lucre.

“For the avoidance of doubt, Governor Ahmed does not go to the presidential villa on private visits, except for official engagements such as the Council of State meetings and other official engagements, the last of such being on July 30.
“We reaffirm that the movement of our solid political structure in Kwara State from PDP to the All Progressive Congress was based on differences in principles and values that subsist to date. Hence, those pontificating on our return to the PDP are dreamers.”
