Bolaji Abdullahi, spokesman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has denied a statement being circulated on the internet in which he was quoted as giving reasons for the current fuel crisis.
Lere Olayinka, a media aide to Ayodele Fayose, governor of Ekiti state, had tweeted a statement quoting Abdullahi as saying there is fuel scarcity “because Buhari’s economy made Nigerians to buy too many cars this year”.
Abdullahi said even as a satire, “the statement sounds stupid”.
“I have never made a single comment on fuel scarcity. That Lere Olayinka should show people where and when I said it and who I said it to. He is a bloody liar whose conscience is his chief accomplice,” he said.

Olayinka was silent on the source of his quote but it is gaining traction on the social media.
He previously said Rotimi Amaechi, minister of transportation, owned the huge sums of cash found at an Ikoyi flat by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) — a claim that has now been disproved.
