Many Nigerians were in action for their respective football clubs over the weekend — some were impressive, some flopped while others were lost in the activities. 

Here are the top performers who made TheCable’s team of the week:

Dele Alampasu – Ventspils

Another phenomenal game for the former Fereinse man. He was very effective when needed.

Chidozie Awaziem – Leganes

The best out of a defence that was outstanding against Valencia. Leganes can dream of avoiding relegation if they win their last two matches in the Spanish La Liga Santander.

Dominic Iorfa – Sheffield Wednesday

It could have been a very difficult afternoon for him against QPR attackers, but he turned it into a simple match by ensuring he’s always in the right place at the right time.

Daniel Adejo – Lamia

He gave Larissa attackers no chance, and also found the space to go forward.

Zaidu Sanusi – Santa Clara

Sanusi was exceptional and a constant threat to Sporting CP back line.

Shehu Abdullahi – Bursaspor

He was the key cog in Bursaspor’s midfield during the game against Menenespor.

Yusuf Bamidele – Spartak Trnava

He was fantastic throughout the 90 minutes against Slovan Bratislava.

Dominic Solanke – AFC Bournemouth

Dominic Solanke delivered quality as AFC Bournemouth walloped Leicester City 4-1. He was sharp and peppered the Foxes with two goals.

Chukwubuike Adamu – Liefering

Immense quality on display. Adamu demolished the opposition’s defence and scored a brace.

David Okereke – Club Brugge

A brace and assist was in the offing for David Okereke as his side thrashed Mechelen 6-0 in a friendly.

Simy Nwankwo – Crotone

Nwankwo was on target to help Crotone protect their second place position in the Serie B. The visitors won 3-1 at Cittadella.
