Martin Abeshi, comptroller-general of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), has retired.
Abeshi, who was due for retirement as of May 13, spent five extra days before his exit on Thursday.
TheCable gathered that Abeshi had sought for an extension of his tenure, having reached the retirement age, but he did not get the approval of President Muhammadu Buhari.
He replaced David Parradang who was sacked under controversial circumstances.
