Hyde Kalu, a youth leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia state, has asked former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar to discontinue the case he instituted in the US against President Bola Tinubu.
Abubakar, presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), secured a court order compelling the Chicago State University (CSU) to release Tinubu’s academic records to him.
But the president filed a motion before a US federal judge seeking to block it.
Abubakar is seeking to nullify the victory of Tinubu in February’s presidential election.

In a statement on Monday, Kalu said for the love of Nigeria, it is important for Abubakar to drop the case “and not allow us to wash our dirty linens in public”.
“We are all patriots, and I believe that we can have a decent way of handling this matter and save Nigerians the shame of this impending embarrassment,” he said.
“The election has come and gone, and a president has emerged.

“We are all humans, and that is why I am pleading with Atiku to discontinue the case in America for the sake of the country and in consideration of the friendship between him and President Tinubu.”
Abubakar has since appealed the verdict of the presidential election petitions tribunal that affirmed Tinubu’s victory.
