The Abia state chapter of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) says it has uncovered plans by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to rig the February 16 election in the state.
In a statement, Augustine Ehiemere, APGA state chairman, alleged that the police arrested one Gaius on Friday with result sheets showing the ruling PDP had won in the state.
He said Gaius was caught in the state capital in “possession of INEC’s sensitive documents and already completed result sheets that gave PDP victory ahead of the now postponed presidential and national assembly elections”.
Ehiemere, represented by Chima Onyekwere, his deputy, said the party received the news of the postponement of the elections with shock.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had postponed the general election on Saturday in order to review its logistics.
Don Ubani, PDP spokesperson in the state, described the allegations as “blatant lies from the pit of hell”, while Ene Ekon, the state commissioner of police, said the command was not aware of the incident and never received such report from any party in the state.
“PDP never contemplated such a heinous plot,” Ubani said.
