Abiru assures tech enthusiasts of support, says nation-building requires collective efforts

Tokunbo Abiru, senator representing Lagos east, has advised tech enthusiasts in Nigeria to harness and judiciously use the opportunities in the technology space.

The lawmaker, who is the co-founder of Senator Abiru Innovation Lab (SAIL) training, said this at the 2023 Hackfest, organised by GenZtechies which held at the Multipurpose Hall of the University of Lagos.

GenZtechies, founded in 2020, is a group for tech enthusiasts.  The tech platform has grown to become one of Africa’s fastest-growing networks for Gen-Zs.

The community is one of the top places where young people in tech learn, connect, and discover life-changing opportunities.

Abiru said tech professionals should strive for excellence and success in their respective fields for them to make quality contributions to the policy development process of the nation.

He added that the task of nation-building requires collective efforts of all citizens, citing Bosun Tijani, the newly appointed minister of innovation and digital economy, as an example.  He went further to say that Nigeria needs the contribution of tech professionals to thrive.

The lawmaker also said he will continue to support initiatives that provide platforms for young Nigerians to thrive in tech, business and other relevant areas of venture.
