Abubakar Rasheed steps down as NUC executive secretary

Abubakar Rasheed has stepped down as the executive secretary of the National Universities Commission (NUC).

Chris Maiayaki, the deputy executive secretary (DES) of the commission, confirmed this to TheCable on Monday.

He said Rasheed will officially hand over everything concerning the commission on June 30.

Maiayaki added that the NUC boss stepped down due to “personal reasons” and his desire to resume teaching at Bayero University Kano (BUK).

“Please correct that it is not resignation but stepping down.”

Rasheed was appointed as the executive secretary of the NUC by former President Muhammadu Buhari in August 2016.
