NLC cripples activities in Abuja

The ever-busy federal secretariat in the federal capital territory (FCT) was deserted on Thursday as organised labour commenced industrial action.

The ministries of health, foreign affairs, education, information and office of the head of service of the federation are at the federal secretariat.

When TheCable visited the secretariat at 1:30pm, the offices were under lock and key.

Security guards were also seen preventing people from gaining access to the building.

“They are not around, there is nobody there because of the strike,” a security guard told TheCable reporter who made an attempt to go into the building housing the health ministry.

A telephone recharge seller was heard lamenting the poor sales.

The only activity was preparation for the October 1 Independence Day celebration at the Eagle Square.
