Rasheed Bolarinwa, head of corporate communications at Polaris Bank, has been re-elected as the president of the Association of Corporate and Marketing Communications Professionals in Nigerian Banks (ACAMB).

Bolarinwa was first elected president in January 2022.

The association, in a statement on Thursday, said this is Bolarinwa’s second and final term of two years – expiring January 23, 2026.

“The election was held on Monday at the Bankers House, Victoria Island on Monday shortly after the well-attended annual general meeting (AGM) where the scorecard of the first term and audited financial statements of the association was presented and scrutinised by members,” ACAMB said.

“The re-elected president is seen to have run a very productive, transparent and value-driven administration supported by arguably one of the finest executive committees in ACAMB’s history.”

In her post-electoral remarks, Doyin Daramola, electoral committee chairperson, said Bolarinwa got the nod of the entire members who attended the AGM as well as the executive members. 

She commended the new executives for running issued-based professional campaigns throughout the electioneering period.

In his acceptance speech, Bolarinwa said all the gains of the past 24 months will be consolidated and new frontiers for the attainment of greater heights explored. 

He assured members, fellow executives and the banking public at large that his commitment to excellence, growth and professionalism remains unwavering.

“I stand before you today with profound gratitude and a deep sense of honour as I accept the privilege of serving once again as your president,” Bolarinwa said.

“The trust and confidence you have placed in me through your votes have humbled me, and I am truly honoured to continue leading this distinguished association.

“Over the past 24 months, we have achieved some significant milestones together, fostering collaboration, innovation, and excellence within the realm of corporate and marketing communications in the banking sector. 

“Together, we have weathered challenges and embraced opportunities, further solidifying ACAMB’s position and relevance as a beacon of best practices in the banking industry.

“As we embark on this new term, my commitment to each and every member remains unwavering. Working with the new Exco, we’ll continue to strive for excellence, explore new avenues for growth, and uphold the highest standards of professionalism.”

According to the statement, Bolarinwa is regarded and credited with having elevated engagements amongst members and amplified ACAMB’s industry relevance in the last two years.

Other members elected as executives are Oze Kalu Oze, first vice president  (First Bank); Onipede Tolulope, second vice president (Guaranty Trust Bank); Sipe Babajide, secretary-general (EcoBank); Ikechukwu Iheagwam, assistant general secretary (Access Bank).

Also, Halima Ishaq emerged as financial secretary (Jaiz Bank); Morolake Philip-Ladipo, treasurer (Wema Bank); Omede Odekina, publicity secretary (United Bank for Africa); and  Utulu Ozena, social secretary (Heritage Bank).
